New Series fromJust Nan

Hey Everyone,

Happy New Year’s Eve! We just wanted to take a minute to let you know about a new series we thought you might want to add to your list for the new year, the 2009 Just Nan tins. So far, we have only gotten a look at the first one:

We only have 7 of the series available, so please call or email us right away to reserve your tins. You can call and reserve just this first one, or you can ask to reserve a whole set.

Stitching Resolutions?

Hey everyone,

With 2009 fast approaching, we thought it might be fun to talk about stitching resolutions, whether or not you make them, and whether or not you keep them. At the shop, it seems like every year we all have stitching resolutions or goals. By mid year, those goals are often forgotten. Dorothy seems to have the best track record, and Vicki has been resolving to work with Heidi on getting Serendipity Designs “The Nativity” done for as long as I’ve been there!

My resolution (yes, it’s Sharon here) is to finish Queen of Freedom from Mirabilia this year. She’s over two thirds done, I think, but I just get bored with her so easily that I keep pushing her aside for other things. If I could just use the same technique with her that I did with the Sedona project for my mother in law that I hated, I’m sure I’d have her done in no time. I committed to 6 needles a week on that one before I would work on something else. More often than not once I started that idea, I would get on a roll and want to see more of a section done, and just keep going.

Dorothy wants to start and finish several patterns this year that she doesn’t seem to have as much time for. As you all know, Dorothy is one of our Chatelaine stitchers, and often gets so into keeping up with one of these large projects that she doesn’t find time to stitch patterns from other designers she likes.

I think for many of us, we’d just like to resolve to find more time to stitch, regardless of the project. How about you? Do you have any stitching goals you’d like to share with us? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below!

Why finding time to stitch is so important during the holiday season

For most of us, stitching too often takes the back seat during the busy holiday season. We need to see about changing our mindset about that, because stitching is such great stress relief. I know that for me, if I go more than about a day without putting in at least a needle or two, I’m a crabby, irritable person. Put a needle in my hand, and give me as little as 15 minutes, and I can clear my head, calm my emotions, and work on creating something beautiful. We at Stitcher’s Treasures hope that you can find a few minutes on your lunch hour, or while your holiday dinner is in the oven, to make time to stitch. You’ll feel so much better if you do!

Friday is Progress Day!

Another Friday, some more progress to share!

This is two different color schemes for the needlepoint pattern Crazy Dreams. The one on the left is Cathy’s. On the right is Heidi’s. Cathy finished hers in November, and Heidi put the last stitches in at last night’s Thursday stitch in. This was a class that Heidi taught.

Sheila stitched this needlepoint stocking a while back, and we had it hanging in the shop for a while. We just wanted to share her wonderfully creative finishing for this design.

Continuing on our holiday theme, we wanted to share Dan’s progress on Celtic Noel. Isn’t she pretty on black?

Susan, another of our Thursday night ladies, is working on a pattern called “Blue Sky”.

Finally, Sharon is still working on finishing Passione Ricamo’s Serendipity Fay. We expect that by our next update, this one will be a finish!

That’s all for today, we hope you enjoyed our Friday progress update!

News and Notes from Stitcher’s Treasures

Hi Everyone!

With the New Year quickly approaching, we have a few small changes we’d like to let you know about. First, we have a change in our special order policy. As of January 1st, 2009, we will be charging a 50% deposit on all special orders over $15. This will help us to serve you better by helping us streamline our ordering process. This does not include new release patterns, so if you fall in love with a new release from Mirabilia, Passione Ricamo or one of the other designers, just call or email us and we’ll add you to the order list for that design free of charge.

Next, we’d like to talk about our Thursday Night Stitch Ins. Don’t worry, we’re still having them! We just want to let you know that we’re going to be wrapping up by 8:30 during the winter months since we’ll be back to having our play time every week. You may want to call us at (760)737-3113 and let us know if you’ll be arriving later than 6pm, we’ve been known to duck out early if it’s slow, and we’d hate for you to drive over and have us not “home”.

Finally, we’d like to remind you that we have some special hours for the holidays. For Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, we’ll be here from 9:30 to 1pm, and for Christmas and New Year’s Day, we’ll be enjoying time with our families, so please come see us on either the 26th or the 2nd.

As always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitiate to call, click, or come in!

Nora Corbett, the designer behind Mirabilia, has put out so many wonderful new charts that we thought today was a great day to share some of them with you. Let’s start with her latest design, Venetian Opulence:

Isn’t she a beauty? She’s not at the shop yet, but you can call us at (760)737-3113 and pre-order her, or just send us an email. From her design line exclusively for Wichelt are two smaller fairies, Holly and Jasmine, they can be pre-ordered as well:

These are just the latest designs from Nora. You can find more at Stitcher’s Treasures or at Mirabilia.com.
