We have new toys to show you!

Hey Everyone,

We got the coolest new toys in over the weekend, and we were so consumed by classes and the end of the AMGEN race that we haven’t had time to show you. First up are these great little buckets called the Krafter’s Purse Mini. As of the writing of this blog, we have just one left in stock, but we are ordering some more on Friday that should be in shortly. If you’d like to reserve one, just call Vicki and let her know what color you’d like us to reserve for you, and let her know how you’d like to handle your deposit. Here are the colors for this great new product:

The other seriously cool thing we wanted to show you are the new stretcher bars from Patt and Lee Designs. What Vicki is really loving about this product is that they are wider bars, they have a flat side for easier mounting of your canvas, and the edges are smoothed and rounded so you don’t catch your fibers or canvas on them. Here’s a picture of them:

For more information on these great new stretcher bars, please visit their website. If you have time, take a few minutes to check out Patt’s wonderful designs.

AMGEN Wrap Up

Hey everyone,

Well, the AMGEN race is all done for this year, and we hope that the many visitors from all over the globe had a good time in Downtown Escondido viewing the conclusion of the race. Congratulations to stage winner Frank Schleck as well as overall winner Levi Leipheimer. Below is Dorothy’s first hand account, as she was working yesterday for our sale:

Wow! Where were all of you?! We had a very busy day here at the shop, but I didn’t get to see any familiar faces! The race seemed to go well. I didn’t really pay too much attention to it until the very end when they crossed the finish line and sailed by in front of the shop. Vicki was outside taking pictures, so maybe she will post some soon! It was a little crowded but not horrific. There was a lot of foot traffic beginning as early as 8:30 in the morning!

Tony’s class will continue through today and then he will be gone. His models of other projects he has done are absolutely stunning. There is nothing like seeing finished pieces in person! Vicki is hoping to have him come back in 2011. The class was moved to our back room due to some very rude people in our other location. This has actually gone very well. All the class members have been very understanding. Of course, I think that after dealing with all the noise the rude people at the other location were making, they were ecstatically happy to be at the shop where it was quiet!

Well, enough for today! Keep checking here for news and updates. We sold a lot of patterns to some of the people taking the class, so of course I filled in the holes with more, some of which you may not have seen before!

The Amgen Tour is coming to Escondido!

Hey Everyone,

Just a quick note today to let you know that the AMGEN tour of California ends right in downtown Escondido on Sunday afternoon, and we’ll be open to help them celebrate from 12:00 until 5:30. In celebration of this historic event, we are offering a ONE DAY ONLY 30% discount on everything in the shop. Special orders are not included, and we cannot honor any other discounts or promotions during this sale. Escondido is preparing for up to 50,000 people to join in the festivities, and has planned shuttle service from Escondido High School and North County Fair. You can find more information at the website the city of Escondido has set up: AMGEN Escondido. We recommend just taking one of the shuttles if you are planning on joining us. Hope to see you then!

One reporter + 11 or so stitchers = instant hilarity!

Hey Everyone,

I promised you the story today of what happened when a reporter from the North County Times crashes an all day stitch, so here goes! There were I think 11 of us at the time, spread out all over the shop. We had just started setting up our fondue table for the Second Saturday Chocolate promotion to tie in with Valentine’s Day when John Raifsnider popped in and introduced himself. John works with the North County Times, and was on a deadline, and we were one of the few shops that were open at the times we listed in the DBA’s publication, so John was hoping he could interview a few of us and take some pictures. Little did he know he was in for it with this group of women!

We started off politely enough, inviting John to have some fondue, and offering him one of our gift bags full of chocolate we had created, so he had something to bring his wife. Then we figured out that John was as playful as we are, and it was all downhill from there, with everyone laughing and joking. I hope that John felt like he was truly welcomed by our teasing, because this group of women doesn’t get that relaxed with just anyone! We’re hoping to have some pictures from him soon from the afternoon, but Vicki made the front page of the Local section, holding up her “Did you Say Chocolate” piece that we shared with you yesterday.

John was a good sport and stayed to talk with us about a variety of things, but the most interesting was that our friend Donna, who was there to stitch with us, is married to a friend of John’s from high school, and the whole thing came about from their playful banter. John was just certain that Donna’s husband wouldn’t remember him, but left her a card just in case. When her husband saw the card, he instantly remembered who John was, and I hope they have since gotten a chance to catch up. We got to tell John when he stopped back in before filing his story that he was remembered, and I hope that it made chasing this story a little bit more pleasant for him. I know that the time he spent in Stitcher’s Treasures was enjoyable for all the ladies that were there!

Tomorrow, we’ll share some more of the pictures of everyone’s work at the All Day Stitch. Please take a minute to stop by the main site today and see the beautiful new Santa that Nora Corbett of Mirabilia has created. If you are planning on ordering him, make sure to click to see the special offer Vicki put together for you!
