I received this note from one of our stitchers and she asked me to post but wishes not to be named. Thanks for your thoughts, it is very comforting to know that I am not the only one who has these feelings.
“Thoughts from a Fellow Stitcher”
When I’m feeling down or unsettled, I spend time in my stitching room. It’s all mine and it gives me comfort. Sometimes I stitch, sometimes I organize my many projects and wonder how am I ever going to finish them all! And sometimes, I just sit. With the events of the past weeks, I’ve found myself in my room on several occasions.
I started stitching 16 or 17 years ago. I’ve always had a very small stitching circle. Stitching is something I do for relaxation and often stitch alone. What I’ve come to realize is that over time my small stitching circle has widened. It includes very caring and thoughtful friends.
And now when I look at my projects, I see more than the materials. I see the friendships woven in all of them. I remember when I bought this piece or that. Or the help I received in selecting stitches or threads. I remember the conversations at the all day sessions or at class. Or just dropping by on Saturday and spending a few hours stitching with friends.
I am very thankful to Vicki for having such a warm and inviting shop. It’s wonderful to have a place to be able to drop in and be welcomed. I love walking in the back door, never knowing who you will find there or where the conversation will lead. And I’m grateful for a home away from home and the wonderful individuals I’ve come to know. Each and every one of you is special and unique.
Thank you for all you’ve given me.
